QUALITIES OF A BLACK BELT
Shin: Appearance - Physical and mental fitness. A true Black Belt has a healthy body and keeps a positive attitude, which leads to a healthy mind.
Um: Speech – Black Belts must be able to speak clearly and intelligently. They must be simple and straightforward in their communication as they pass on information and instruction.
Sur: Writing – Black Belts also need to be able to clearly express themselves in writing, allowing others to easily understand what they are trying to communicate.
Phan: Judgment – Everyday, each decision we make takes our lives in different directions. A Black Belt must be able to see the consequences of his or her decisions and make the right choices to keep their lives on the right path.
Shil: Integrity – Honesty and trustworthiness are essential qualities for a Black Belt as the true martial artist must be a man or woman of their word.
Chung: Loyalty – A Black Belt must be faithful to his family, friends, community, Church and ultimately his country.
