Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 

This is a an all levels class geared toward beginner students focused on strong fundamental BJJ.  Whether you are brand new to martial arts, or a seasoned martial artist looking to cross train you will get a lot out of this class.   We predominantly focus on the self defense aspects of Jiu Jitsu, rather than a more sport oriented approach.

From October 15-April 15, we train in Gi BJJ, 

From April 15-October 15, we train No Gi BJJ

  • Takedowns & Defending Takedowns

  • Escapes from inferior positions 

  • Guards & Guard Passing

  • Dominant Positional Control

  • Submissions (Including Leg Locks)

  • Defending Striking on the ground

Greg Koval has trained in martial arts since 1990 when he began training at Kim's Taekwondo with his father Bruce Koval.

​In September of 2012, Coach Greg opened Koval Taekwondo to teach old school power Taekwondo with educated cross training for self defense.  This was the foundation for what was later to become Devil Dog Martial Arts, which is the culmination of developed systems and training practices that were established under the Koval Taekwondo program. 

 

Greg Koval is a 6th Degree Black Belt Master Instructor in Taekwondo under Grand Master Moo H Kim..  Greg Koval is also a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Professor Pablo Castro.  In addition, Coach Greg has spent decades cross training Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, MCMAP, Hapkido, and Judo.

Physical Prerequisite:  None
Physical Challenge Level:  Starts at a 3, Builds to a 5 as you progress
Equipment Requirements:  Water Bottle and a mouth guard. 
Uniform Requirement:  Gi (Winter) No Gi (Summer)
Ages:  13+
